SharePoint Team Services

Finally, a short indroduction to SharePoint Team Services. This product, which ships with Microsoft FrontPage 2002, gives teams of users the ability to provision, author, and manage their own team web sites. Web sites based on SharePoint Team services provide a place on the internal network or the Web where team members can communicate, share documents, and work together on a project. Because SharePoint team web sites are editable from with the browser, all team members with the appropriate permissions can contribute to the site regardless of web authoring skills. Integration features in FrontPage 2002 and Office XP provide further opportunities for team members to customize their sites and to seamlessly incorporate information from the Office applications into their Web sites. It is important to note that this product only requires Windows 2000 Professional - not the Server products. The SharePoint server will run its' database using a local Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) storage system on Windows 2000 Professional and you can then share out documents and information within a Windows 2000 / XP workgroup.
