NetGear Switches and Hubs
The NetGear range of switches and hubs are all 10/100 Mbs auto-detecting, keeping all the high speed connections on one internal circuit to stop low speed network links disrupting the flow of data.
If a hub is used all the PCs connected to that hub share the available speed, on a switch each PC connects at the network card rating. In essence switches provide a faster network connection than hubs using the same network cards. We recommend that servers and power user computers be linked by switches and that low speed administration computers be linked via hubs.
It is possible to design a cascading system, where central servers are connected to a switch which then feeds out the the rest of the network using switches and hubs to maximise the efficiency of the network at the lowest cost possible.

Compact |
The NETGEAR DS100 series of 10/100 Mbps
Dual Speed Hubs connects multiple PCs to share printers, files, Internet
access, and e-mail communications. One can mix and match 10 and 100
Mbps PCs, servers, and peripherals with these hubs, all without any
configuration required. The DS100 family combines a lot of capabilities
in very compact form-factors and are designed for small bussiness
users who are very price conscious.

The desktop and rackmount NetGear switches are now avaialble with 1000Mbs 'Gigabit' speed ports to provide the fastest possible connection for your servers and power users. In high network activity locations we recommend that the servers be connected to the central switch by a Gigabit link and then every 100Mbs link to the power users can then be supplied at full speed.
